Wim Wenders
Düsseldorf, Germany
Wim Wenders Unbegrenzt brings together some of Wim Wenders’ most iconic fine art photography and stills from a few of his legendary films. The exhibition takes the viewer onto a journey into the powerful visual world of a film director and photographer whose sense of places has shaped his photographic view just as much as his cinematic storytelling.
Many of the stills he has selected for this exhibition are familiar pictures from his films. Being stopped in motion, so to speak, to become individual images standing on their own, these stills show that the story and the mood of a film are already contained in each individual frame.
While a film has a beginning and an end, and the stream of its images is limited, time is not. And that’s what Wenders’ fine art photography is trying to achieve: capturing timeless moments that reveal the unlimited flow of time, like monuments to eternity.
