Ángel Hernández

1944, Venezuela

Each work suggests a kind of fracture in space, a breakdown in the apparent order of visual representation. (…) Hernández’s compositions are a distortion in our habits, a challenge to the gaze and an optical alteration of the standards of daily life. That is the retinal game. There emerges the scheme of volumes and chromatic harmonies, and they reveal to us some mysteries of the primordial matter that surrounds us.”— Humberto Valdivieso (August 2014)
