Joan Peris is a multidisciplinary visual artist who reduces his imagined landscapes, born from an interest in skylines, to focus on the interplay of colour and texture. At times, endless acrylic Mediterranean skies blend with collaged linen buildings, while in others, the white translucent Southern European light softly envelops his scenes.
His paintings transport us to alternative, utopian terrains—harmonious and calming places.
Peris’ unique vision and love of experimentation with materials have led him to create personalised views of Barcelona’s cosmopolitan rooftops. In contrast, he is also able to quiet our minds with desolate, textured, and pigmented farm buildings set on vast sweeping plains.
Born in Castellón, this multi-faceted artist studied graphic design and worked as a ceramic designer while developing his interests in photography and painting. In 1997, he consolidated his artistic knowledge and began working from his Barcelona studio, successfully exhibiting internationally ever since.
