Umberto Ciceri
Umberto Ciceri, born in Milan, is renowned for his innovative approach to aesthetic
perception and movement. Educated in fashion design at Milan’s prestigious Marangoni
School, Ciceri began his career collaborating with iconic designers such as Elio Fiorucci, Gianni Versace, and Giorgio Armani. His trajectory spans textile and interior design, crafting iconic spaces for nightclubs and designing fabrics for high fashion brands. These experiences provided him with a solid foundation in techniques and materials, which he later integrated into his artistic practice.
His works blur the boundaries between the figurative and the abstract, inviting audiences to engage with art in a dynamic and immersive manner. Ciceri’s work is also deeply influenced by ballet and boxing, two disciplines that embody a constant tension between technique and the invisible forces shaping movement. In his creations, he captures the energy and essence of these gestures, transforming them into optical tapestries that combine frames and colours in complex patterns. Each piece is unique, signed and authenticated through a meticulous process that reflects his commitment to the singularity of art.
Currently, Umberto Ciceri resides between Barcelona and Bologna where he combines research and artistic production, establishing himself as a pioneer in visual experimentation and technological innovation in contemporary art. Ciceri’s work has been exhibited in renowned venues, including the Maga Museum (18th Giornata del Contemporaneo), Kunstverein Friedberg (Identities, 2020), Museo Marino Marini (Ex Voto, 2019), Teatros del Canal (Madrid, 2017), and the Venice Biennale (2011).
