Viu i treballa a Barcelona, Espanya.La seva inspiració són els petits detalls, sovint desapercebuts, que constitueixen la vida quotidiana: fum de xemeneia, or brunyit, el dibuix sota la pintura escrostonada, escales trencades que no porten enlloc, els estralls del temps gravats al metall, un sender que travessa un paisatge àrid… “A cada pintura que començo, les capes i les textures continuen fascinant-me com ho fa el procés. El meu tema segueix sent el mateix, la pròpia matèria, la costa, el mar, les línies de desig que creuen el paisatge, el temps i el seu efecte corrosiu sobre els materials, i la recerca de la bellesa en allò que veiem al nostre voltant. Els filtres del món al meu estudi, el color, la llum, la política, la religió, la gent. Les converses romanen amb mi, els mapes em captiven, viatjar m’entusiasma. La creació i la pintura són un imperatiu i una obsessió sense la qual no podria viure un dia.”

Per a ella, el metall és un llenç on estudia l’efecte del temps, l’aigua i l’oxigen – barreja àcid clorhídric i àcid nítric diluïts i els fa servir per corroir el recobriment gras protector que preserva la superfície d’acer, i després la rasca per estimular l’oxidació. A partir d’aquí, capa a capa, Davine crea obres abstractes tridimensionals –i escultures de pintura– on les textures i els colors es fonen i canvien amb les alteracions de la llum.El crític d’art Alex Bahna va dir que Chelsea Davine volia ressaltar tot el procés ‘harmoniós i elemental’ a la seva feina, o com ella expressa: “Elaborar alguna cosa bella i delicada d’una cosa tan inflexible com l’acer, la pedra, el coure o el plom”. Tanmateix, no és la puresa i la permanència del metall allò que interessa a Chelsea, sinó com envelleix.
