We are excited to invite you to an exclusive evening with the celebrated Dutch artist Claudy Jongstra at Villa del Arte, located in the luxurious Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, on 12th September at 6:30 PM. This event offers a rare opportunity to meet Jongstra, a visionary in sustainable textile art whose work is revered worldwide, including in prestigious institutions like the MoMa in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, or the Stedelijk in Amsterdam, in public buildings such as the OBA in Amsterdam and the library of the University of Pennsylvania.
Claudy Jongstra is more than just an artist; she is a pioneer in sustainable design. Her large-scale wool installations, crafted using traditional felting techniques and natural dyes, reflect her deep commitment to environmental sustainability. Each piece is meticulously made from materials she personally sources, including wool from her own sheep and dyes from plants she cultivates. Jongstra’s work is featured in leading museums around the world, and her installations bring a message of ecological responsibility to public spaces globally.
Studio Claudy Jongstra is continually engaged in cutting-edge, collaborative research and education, both locally and internationally. The studio collaborates with a diverse network of farmers, shepherds, artisans, designers, architects, curators, scientists, researchers, historians, and educational institutions. These partnerships are driven by a shared mission to cultivate material literacy and consciousness, generating transformative actions that protect and regenerate natural materials through circular processes that nurture healthy communities and ecosystems.
